So its not a mini, and far from mini, but its all about rollin low! Bought the car about september 2005, completely stock, original paint, no rust, with running motor for $1000. stole the car practically. so i got it home and yanked the old 401 nailhead out (had a rod knock, rebuilds on these engines are expen$ive!) and the dynaflow tranny. My good friend John in Moreno Valley built me a nice 350 chevy with an RV cam, roller rockers, electronic ignition, and a few other goodies. My good buddy's dad Kent rebuilt me a junk turbo 350 i bought for 40 bucks (which was "the worst he had ever seen"). Once the two were at the house i proceeded to shoehorn the combo in, which surprisingly was a bigger setup than stock, go figure. but after some endless cursing and a nice spill of tranny fluid all over the floor, i got it in there, shimmed up, and make my motor mounts. After that was all finished, the drive shaft wouldnt work, the shifter wouldnt work, and my radiator needed to be modified. So i had the drive shaft shortened (its a two piece) with a new carrier bearing, bought a new shift that i have almost finished setting up, and had the radiator rebuilt as a 4 row, with the modified input and output. Rebuilt all the brakes: flex lines, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, with new shoes all the way around. Then came the air ride. All slam RE-6 bags. I used 4 inch diameter 1/4inch wall pipe to make my cups with circle plates from suicide doors to make my mounts. In hte rear i utilized the stock spring mounting points that were used. They were integrated with the body mounts and i didnt want to alter those. The bags mount over the links, in the factory location, giving them a nice balanced ride (hopefully, ahahaha). I made the upper mounts bolt on to make it easier to change and repair things in the future. The fronts were a bit trickier. After removing the springs (and discovering my balljoints were thrashed

) i decided to start cutting things up. I blew out the center of the stock spring cups on the arms and the frame. I welded the bottom mounts solid to the lower arms. After that i was able to get my measurements for the upper mounts. I cut the 4 inch pipe to the right length, figuring in the thickness of the plate, and welded the plate in at the appropriate angle corresponding to my lower arm. Once it was finally welded up, i slid it up into the original spring cup into the hold i had cut, and welded it solid to the frame. Everythign check out fine. Now its on to shock mounts, which i have yet to figure out. mounted valves up under rear quarter panels and in the area behind the rear axel on a cross member i made. Mounted all my air ride goodies on a box i made to fit in the truck, that will eventually be molded and upolstered. Interior has yet to be determined but i want to do an earlier buick dash with a custom molded steel center console. Stereo: when i can afford it :P. more to come!
