About my S10

Hi, my name is Melissa. I have owned this 1987 S-10 for ten years now.  This truck though may look stock on the outside, but she's a hotrod on the inside. Under the hood is a custom built 2.8L V-6 pushing 380hp on pump gas. I have invested almost $5,000.00 just in the engine alone. The engine has been bored 50 over, the heads have been ported and polished, it has a 372 degree lift cam, the rods have been shortened to produce a longer stroke, has crane cams gold race extruded roller rocker arms, high per formance Crane Cams hydraulic lifters, Air-Raid throttle body spacer, K&N airfilter. To help the engine breathe better I had EdeIbrock headers installed, from then on a 21/2" stainless steel exhaust system as well as 4" polished stainless steel tips coming out the back to keep with the old skool hotrod style. I've raced and beaten a Porsche 911 turbo in this truck. On a 1/8 mile dragstrip the truck ran a 7.06. For a little dress up I added steel braided hoses, chrome valve covers as well as painting the cooling fan red, black, and silver, the engine block has been painted red so has the water pump, the engine pulleys, the alternator even the nuts and bolts in the engine compartment have been painted. I did all the engine detail and dress up myself. The engine in this truck makes it one of a kind on the showfield.
The interior has been done as well. I painted the door panels, trim on dash, red and black. The seats are out of a oldsmobile and have been re-upholstered by my grandmother in black leather and red tweed. I also added a bowtie rearview mirror, and a Grant GT 4 spoke polished aluminum steering wheel, a 5" tach is mounted to the steering column to keep an eye on engine RPMs. In the middle of the seats sets a center console i designed and built myself with a 7" TV screen and a Sony Dreamcast (oldskool). For a little bump in the truck for the long hauls to shows I had two Sony X-Plod 12" subs installed. to get the power for the subs is a 400 watt Sony amp. The head unit has a cd player with remote and is made by Sony as well.
To make the truck stand out in a crowd I had it repainted red and black, to add sparkle the truck was shot with House Of Kolor red mini flakes in the base clear coat, 5 coats of clear was added, then it was sanded and buffed to perfection. To cover the holes in the fenders left by the stock emblems a set of Corvette emblems went on. The Chevrolet letters on the tailgate were painted to make them stand out. I also hand painted Wile E. Coyotes on the trucks glass to keep fingerprints off it at shows. A Sir Micheals drop-tag was added to smooth out the back. To keep with the hot-rod style on the outside I had a 2" cowl induction hood bolted up, a pop-up (removable) sunroof was installed up top. To reduce the drag on the truck to make it faster a Extang soft tonneau cover was put on to cover the bed. To make the lights brighter at night a set of Crystal Eyes headlight conversion kit with xenon bulbs was installed, as well as Crystal Eyes clear lenses, and euro taillights out back. To make the truck glow from below at night a set of Street Glow Gold Series red neon kit was bolted undreneathe. To keep with the oldskool hotrod style a set of 17" Billet Specialties Phantom rims was bolted on wrapped in BF Goodrich Comp T/A 255/40ZR17 rubber.
For the truck to handle the way I drive around corners, I dropped it 4" in the front with Belltech 2" drop spindles and 2" drop coils. To drop the back 6" Belltech 4" compressed leaf springs and 2" inch blocks was added. To improve on the body roll around the corners I also added polyurethane bushings, and Belltech Nitro-Active shocks. To make the truck as clean underneathe as the rest of the truck, I sanded the frame down to remove all the rust, then I painted it gloss black, painted the leafsprings red, and hand paited all the nuts and bolts in red and silver. The truck has won best of show, best of show engine, and so many 1st place trophies I can't even keep count anymore. The best thing about my truck is the pride I take in being a woman and doing most of the work on the truck myself. Thanks for taking the time to read all the details on my truck sorry it's so long.

Yeah you could say the roof leaks pretty bad considering there is no roof!! haha I just didnt see the need for the roof since it only gets out on sunny days anyway...plus if you CAN take off the top you WILL so I figured the roof would never end up on the truck so I just tossed it lol
